Chronology of the start of 24 hour broadcasts by Malaysian free-to-air TV stations

This is a chronology of full time 24 hour broadcasting made by Malaysian free-to-air TV stations.

31.8.1997 - TV3 (until November 1998 due to Asian financial crisis, from December 1998 until early 2000s broadcasting started at noon on weekends or 9:00 am on other days until late at night, also experienced by other stations that existed during that time)
2004 - TV3 (Thursday to Sunday, then irregular until 2011)
1.8.2004 - TV1 (Night hours are filled with hourly news updates, this practice continued after 24 hour broadcasting switched to TV2 in 2006)
1.4.2006 - TV2 (after 60-hour broadcasts during RTM's 60th anniversary; TV1 subsequently stopped 24 hour broadcasting afterwards)
January 2011 - TV3 stopped off-air hours and then switched to 24 hour broadcasting
August 2012 - TV1 (without announcement after the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, previously only broadcast 24 hours during the fasting month of Ramadan)

The only stations that do not broadcast 24 hours a day are NTV7, 8TV, TV9 and TV Alhijrah. Only NTV7 does not occasionally broadcast 24 hours a day during the fasting month of Ramadan.
