Clandestine radio stations in Sarawak as reported by Bernama

Just recently there are some news reports about the existence of two clandestine radio stations in Sarawak, as reported by Bernama. (Clandestine radio stations are radio stations that are broadcast illegally and broadcast from a foreign country. Another name for clandestine radio is pirate radio). They are Radio Free Sarawak and Radio Kenyalang. Both stations are broadcast illegally from foreign countries. The Sarawak Chief Minister said on January 17 that Radio Free Sarawak broadcast mostly in Iban and makes no respect for the truth while Radio Kenyalang is reported to have relations to the opposition Sarawak Workers Party. One of the modus operandi of the stations were distributing free radio sets in the rural areas. People who listen to these stations were angry because the stations make lies about the Sarawak government. Some quarters are calling for the government to take against the stations. Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister on January 25 said that Radio Free Sarawak should be operated locally if they are really run by genuine Sarawakians.
